Adult Basic Education (ABE) ABE tutoring is provided by tutors one-on-one and in small groups. Learner assessment is done using State Department of Education approved instruments. Our ABE instruction is based on a mix of materials with determination of materials used based on each client's individual needs.
Media Learning Lab The learning lab utilizes computer programs and gives learners access to practice programs such as Office 2003 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing, Learn Typing Quick-N-Easy, as well as basic instruction in internet use and using internet based email programs such as Yahoo, G-Mail, or Hotmail.
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) ESOL is provided on an individual basis and in small groups. Material used vary depending on the learner's current level of English proficiency. The curriculum is supplemented with worksheets drawn from pictorial and phrase dictionaries, as well as a variety of books and magazines chosen for their diverse pictorial content. Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings as well as on individual time schedules.
Reading Comprehension Literacy (RCL) RCL is offered on Tuesday evenings for children between the ages of 3 and 12. This program focuses on teaching children to read by means of understanding the meaning of text--words, numbers, and images, in print or digital form, whereas most programs may only concentrate on teaching sound/letter (combination) recognition.
