Here's How You Can Help!

The Newberry County Literacy Council is asking all of Newberry and surrounding counties to commit to volunteer in 2010 and 2011. Our main focus is to work with adults, but we also work with children grades K-8.

If you can read or speak English, you can help. The areas to volunteer in are: Math (Basic, Algebra, Geometry, Fractions), Reading (all levels), Computer Technology (Microsoft Office, Internet, and Keyboarding), and Tax Assistance. We also have a FAST (Families and Schools Together) Program which helps build family relationships, and breaks the communication barrier between parents and school administrators.

Call, write, or visit us at NCLC and we’ll discuss how, as a volunteer, you’ll receive in return a lot more than you ever imagined.

You’ll be surprised by what your time will mean to someone.

" Be of service whether you make yourself available to a friend or co-worker, or you make time every month to do volunteer work, there is nothing that harvests more of a feeling of empowerment than being of service to someone in need."                                   (Guillian Anderson, Actress)
