Here's How You Can Help!

The Newberry County Literacy Council is asking all residents of Newberry and surrounding counties to commit to volunteer in 2011 and 2012. Our main focus is on work with adults, but we also work with children grades K-8.

If you can read or speak English, you can help. The areas to volunteer in are: Math (Basic, Algebra, Geometry, Fractions), Reading (all levels), Computer Technology (Microsoft Office, Internet, and Keyboarding) and Tax Assistance. We also have a FAST (Families and Schools Together) Program which helps build family relationships, and breaks the communication barrier between parents and school administrators.

Call, write or visit us at NCLC and we’ll discuss how as a volunteer, you’ll receive a lot more in return than you ever imagined.

You’ll be surprised by what your time will mean to someone.

" Be of service whether you make yourself available to a friend or co-worker, or you make time every month to do volunteer work, there is nothing that harvests more of a feeling of empowerment than being of service to someone in need."
